Is it me, or am I feeling the return of the early to mid 90's R&B/Soul Movement? Feeling like Bad Boy Records still ran the industry with summer hits and winter classics, the 90s were full of fresh new artists all singing about love, life & tribulations. And through out the 90s, no matter the severity of the economy of war, most music was uplifting, loving, and left lasting impressions.
Ms. Tamika Love Jones' debut video of DUMB LOVE puts me right back in that vein. Filmed in Washington, DC's Meridian Hill Park, the aesthetics of the park, coupled with the ethereal, dream-like quality of the director's view, produces a nostalgic visual to accompany her fresh lyrics. |

Ms. Marsha Ambrosius is skillfully building the hype about her much anticipated album set for release in 2011. While her former counterpart rushed a speedy release with lack luster tracks and average-Bohemian poetry, Marsha's Mixtapes have been waking me up for the last few days.
You can find the other mixtapes (part 1 & 2) as well as some live footage and her recent performance of FOUR WOMEN @ Black Girls Rock on BET, all right here on the Briggs Report.
